As we are a week into the new year, plenty of us are scurrying trying to figure out our New Year’s resolutions. Some of us want to lose weight, eat healthier, lower stress, travel, etc. A popular resolution is to cut back on the junk food and get into the habit of exercising more, but what if you could exercise while having the chance to spend time with some adorable dogs?
Named “Best Running Club” in 2019 by Philadelphia Magazine, the Monster Milers is a wonderful club that gives runners the opportunity to jog with a shelter dog!
While you’re getting in your exercise to fulfill your New Year’s Resolution, you can get to know a lovable dog and give the sweet pup a chance to get some fresh air. According to the Monster Milers site, the club rescues dogs directly from Philadelphia’s intake shelter and places them in Miler foster homes. To help gain exposure and potentially find the dogs a home, the also visit local races with adoptable dogs from their foster program!
The club offers different kinds of runs, from shelter group runs to fun runs to even a 5K called the Rescue Run 5K! To keep up with dates and upcoming events, be sure to follow the Monster Milers on Facebook and Instagram. There’s nothing better than being able to contribute to a greater cause all while doing something fun for yourself!
