Nick Foles means a lot to Eagles fans and the city of Philadelphia. In the 2017 season, Foles helped carry the Eagles all the way to the Super Bowl and brought the Lombardi trophy to a starved, hungry, underdog of a city, as Jason Kelce iconically stated in his Super Bowl Parade speech. Foles will always have a place in the hearts and souls of Eagles fans, but recently, he left a little piece of him for fans and for the city.
As Nick Foles is no longer with the Eagles and now with the Jacksonville Jaguars, it would have made sense for him to carry his player number with him, but he isn’t. Instead, he’s wearing No. 7, stating in a recent interview with NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Derrick Gunn that, “Number 9 stays in Philadelphia. That numbers means a lot to me. It pertains to that city.”
Just when you think you couldn’t love or respect Foles anymore, he keeps his number, a number that changed his life forever, with the city that gave so much to him in return. No matter where he goes, Foles will remain a treasure and legend to Eagles fans and Philly.
Though on the opposing team, Philly will be happy to see Foles back in the city.
