There’s nothing like a beautiful light display around this time of year. For some families, it’s a tradition to make their home the brightest and most colorful on their street. For others, driving around and marveling at different light displays is enough. Jerry Corrado of West Chester has been meticulously decorating his home with a light display during the Christmas season for 20 years. Jerry’s home is one very popular spot in the neighborhood and West Chester borough for locals to stop by and gaze at the beautiful display, which includes various Christmas blow ups, assorted lights, and plenty of sparkle.
Jerry and his wife are using the attention from their awesome light display to help collect toys for children in Chester County Hospital! The first year Jerry noted that they collected around 200 or 250 toys, and each year since has just accumulated more and more- now filling a large chunk of his garage. He said he was inspired by his daughter who worked at the hospital, and being diagnosed with leukemia three years ago, he recognizes the little things that can brighten someone’s day.
While the holiday season will be coming to an end in a little less than two weeks, it is no doubt that Jerry and his mission will have a lasting impact in the hearts of those children in Chester County Hospital and the people of West Chester. Perhaps his good deeds can inspire others to pay it forward and continue to spread the true reason for the season.
