New Years Eve is finally here, which means trying to figure out plans for celebrating the start of a new year and new decade may I add, how did 2020 get here so fast? While some people have plans on going to family/friend parties, you may be wondering what kind of fun events will be going on around the area! One particularly popular and family-friendly event is the Kennett Square’s very own Midnight in the Square. During this special annual event, a giant 700-pound lighted stainless steel mushroom is lowered to kick off the new year- highlighting how Kennett Square is considered by residents and outsiders as the “mushroom capital of the world.” The Mushroom Drop is going on its 7th year and shows no signs of stopping as thousands are expected to show up.
On top of the Mushroom Drop, the event will also feature entertainment from Bob Croce, son of the late Jim Croce, which starts at 7pm. In addition, other entertainment is provided by The Rose Project, KMC Dancers, and Harmonia Circus. There will be a laser light show, which runs from 7pm-Midnight as well!
Several local restaurants will be open to catch a quick bite to eat, and Kennett Brewing Co. will be serving food, beery and wine starting at 9pm. Catch a warm cup of coffee, hot chocolate, or tea too!
Happy New Year!
