Jonathan Van Ness, known as JVN for short, is the beauty and grooming expert on Netflix’s Queer Eye. Outside of the show, however, JVN hosts a podcast called ‘Getting Curious’ in which he welcomes various guests on the show to educate and spark a discussion on topics that interest him. ‘Getting Curious’ features intelligent and well rounded conversations on a variety of topics, such as: toxic stress, the importance of representation in the American Political System, environmental conservation, international affairs, figure skating, relationships, and more!
Recently, JVN had Temple University Associate Professor of History, Dr. Jessica Roney on the podcast to talk about early American history and what life was like in Philadelphia leading up to the Revolutionary War. In the podcast, Dr. Roney displayed her expertise by telling Jonathan about early America, the original colonies (FYI, there weren’t just 13), differing opinions among colonists, and the events leading up to the Revolutionary War. In the near hour-long podcast, Dr. Roney intelligently explains what was going on in our nation at the time and its almost mind boggling how much she knows- she’s like a human encyclopedia on American history!
Jonathan posted on his personal instagram account, bringing attention to the greatness of the episode and Dr. Roney.
The official ‘Getting Curious’ instagram page also featured a snippet of Dr. Roney and Jonathan together!
JVN sure has been spending a lot of time around Temple University lately, which has me ‘getting curious’ about the possibility of my alma matter being featured in the next season of Queer Eye! You can listen to ‘Getting Curious’ on Spotify, ITunes, or any podcast streaming site like Earwolf!
