It is the end of an era for the iconic Hershey KissMobile at Hershey Park. Due to the age and condition of the mobile, it will be retired this week, according to company spokesperson, Jeff Beckman. It is also becoming harder to find replacement parts for it.
Since 1997, the 12-foot-tall, 26 foot long, Hershey Kisses have brought joy to all who visited. They resemble three giant kisses and have traveled over 30,000 miles each year.
The mission of the mobile was to raise awareness and donations for the Children’s Miracle Network and to create an emotional connection with the chocolate lovers who come in contact with it.
If you filled the mobile with actual Hershey Kisses, you would have 230,000 kisses. That’s a lot of chocolate.
The Hershey KissMobile made one last public appearance on New Year’s Eve at the celebration in Hershey, PA, and will now forever live in at the entrance of the auto museum.
So if you ever take a trip to Hershey, and miss the iconic mobile, make sure you stop at the museum.
