For locals and tourists, the Philly food scene is one to marvel at. There are the renown staples like the Philly pretzel and cheesesteak, to more diverse foods like West African to Puerto Rican to Polish. In a new study by WalletHub, Philadelphia ranked #19 in the Top 20 Foodie Cities.
In the study, researchers compared 182 cities, including the 150 most populated U.S. cities as well as at least two of the most populated cities in each states. To conduct the study, the researchers used two dimensions “affordability” and “diversity, accessibility, and quality” (a total 30 micro-factors) to determine the best foodie cities.
In addition to being ranked #19 among foodie cities like New York City, Portland, Miami, Atlanta, and Chicago (to name a few), Philadelphia was also ranked in some individual categories. Philly came first for affordability and accessibility of highly ranked restaurants, second in number of grocery stores, 11th in restaurants per capita, 12th in gourmet speciality-food stores, and 14th in coffee and tea shops!
Once again, our amazing city shows to be great in a number of areas, especially food! Where would you rank Philly on the list?
