Ritz at the Bourse Movie Theater Shutting Down by February
Since 1990, The Ritz at the Bourse Movie Theater has been showing flicks. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, it is set to close at the end of this month.
Located in Old City, the five-screen theater will show its last film on the 26th and say goodbye on the 31st. It is a go-to for movie lovers of independent and foreign films that you typically do not see other places.
You can see the Oscar-nominated, Netflix original, “The Irishman,” as well as, Terrence Malick’s, “The Hidden Life” there.
There was no reason said as to why the theater was shutting down. Maybe because specialty and Indie films aren’t as popular anymore. However, the Ritz East and the Ritz Five will remain open.
If you have time, and love indie films, make sure to stop by the theater one last time and say goodbye to a historic building.
