Richie’s Celebrates 50th Anniversary by Giving Back
You cannot have Temple without Richie’s, and likewise, you cannot have Richie’s without Temple. The two go together like two peas in a pod. If you ask any Temple University student where to get a bite to eat on campus, you will unanimously get Richie’s as your answer. Five decades later Richie’s celebrates its 50th anniversary
Richie’s celebrates 50th anniversary by remembering where it all began
From what started as a cart on 13th street in the late 1960s, Richie’s grew to a be food truck in the mid-70s and moved on to the food court at 12th and Polett Walk in 1996. Since 1996, the family-run restaurant has been an incredibly popular spot for Temple students, professors, and visitors. There are also two other Richie’s locations on Temple’s Campus. Richie’s Cafe, located in Kardon Atlantic Apartments a few blocks from campus and Richie’s Lunch Box, on the corner of 12th and Norris streets!
Richie’s features classic American foods with a variety of sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and pizzas. Personally, my go-to at Richie’s is his bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a bagel with hash browns. This sandwich is the bomb and it is not only affordable but also will keep you full for hours!
A staple for great service and food, Richie’s celebrates its 50th anniversary, with the owner looking for a way to give back to Temple. Richie (of Richie’s), is raising money to donate to Temple’s Cherry Pantry, a service to help students facing food insecurity, to ensure no student goes hungry at Temple.
The Temple community loves Richie and is enthusiastic to support him for this wonderful cause. You can support the cherry pantry here, and even take a trip down memory lane with Richie by matching pictures of his iconic foods along with some other fun pictures!
Thank you for all you bring to Temple, Richie.
