Philly’s Lil Uzi Vert Releases New Album Eternal Atake
The long awaited arrival of Lil Uzi Vert’s latest album, Eternal Atake, is finally upon us. The Philadelphia rapper revealed through Twitter last week that his newest project was coming soon. Many thought that would translate into a release on Friday, March 13th. But fans didn’t even have to wait that long as Lil Uzi Vert chose to surprise drop the record today.
The Twitter announcement last week came in tandem with a cinematic trailer for the fresh album. In the video, Lil Uzi Vert is abducted by alien-cultists. Check it out here. The film is deeply inspired by the Heaven’s Gate cult whose surviving members at one time threatened legal action against the rapper for his intended cover art. Since that incident, Lil Uzi Vert actually allowed fans to choose the cover for his new album via a Twitter voting poll.
While the Philadelphia native has released a string of singles and contributed his share of feature verses across the last few years, it’s been quite some time since his last record Love is Rage 2, which dropped back in 2017. Many, admittedly myself included, believed this release would materialize sooner.
Lil Uzi Vert has disclosed the meaning behind the title stating “Eternal means forever. Atake means 2 overtake.” It’s now up to fans to decide if his new music will live up to the hype. Find the tracklist, which features production from Chief Keef and guest vocals from Syd, below.
