Shaq Surprises Philly Middle School Students with 200K Donation
In addition to businesses and healthcare, the Coronavirus has significantly impacted is our educational system. Both primary and higher education institutions across the country are shut down, making online education the new normal. This unprecedented and universal shift to virtual learning, through zoom conference class lectures and online testing, has impacted the learning for students who are used to going to class, socializing with friends, and engaging in extracurriculars like sports.
There is no denying how awesome Shaq is. The NBA star is not only known for his legendary basketball career, but he’s also known for his lovable personality and what he has done off the court since retiring. During a zoom conference, students of Young Scholar Charter School in Philadelphia were shocked and thrilled that Shaq hopped in on their meeting. During the zoom, Shaq told the students as well as their coach, that they have been gifted a $200,000 donation from Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes Mission Tiger. With the donation, the Young Scholar Charter School can purchase new uniforms and equipment, as well as build a new sports court.
Though most of us aren’t sure when normal life will resume, one thing that is guaranteed, is that the students of Young Scholar Charter will have a wonderful new athletic program to look forward to.
