Decorate Your Christmas Tree with Jawnaments
Anyone from Philly knows the slang term, ‘jawn’. Jawn is a universal term to describe a particularly notable person, place, or thing. For instance, when you get a delicious hoagie for lunch, you might say, “that jawn hit the spot!” This Christmas season, get into the spirit by decorating your tree with ‘Jawnaments’! These Philly-themed handmade ornaments are so cool and unique that you’ll want to collect all of them!
Susan Murphy, a full time teacher of college business, started the Jawnaments Etsy shop back in 2017 and has since become a bit hit after her appearance on Philly’s own Fox 29 Good Day Philadelphia morning show. The Jawnaments are made using birch wood and precision cut with “frickkin’ laser beams’ according to Susan herself.
So what different kinds of Jawnaments can you get? There is a whole bunch to choose from! There’s Wawa coffee, Dan’s Italian hoagie, Tastykake Krimpets and Kandy Kake, a Philly pretzel, and even Gritty!
The best thing about Jawnaments? They give back to the city they honor. Ten percent of the profits of a specific handful of ornaments bought go to the Fishtown Neighbors Association, while another 10% goes to MANNA, a local nonprofit that helps give nutritious meals to people with life-threatening illnesses.
Since all of the recent attention from Susan’s appearance on Fox 29 and other press coverage, there is a limited amount of items for sale, but continue to check the official Jawnament Etsy shop to get your hands on your favorite one!
