Bianca Ryan Releases Say Something Music Video

Singer/songwriter Bianca Ryan has released her music video for her rendition of Christina Aguilera and a Great Big World’s “Say Something.”
We talked to Ryan about the meaning of the video and it means more than you may think. “This is the song I performed on AGT: The Champions earlier this year where I told the whole world about where I had been for the last decade- my journey and the hardships I had to endure with having to get surgeries for my vocal cord that was paralyzed. This song truly told my story and I wanted it to be shown through small elements in the video. It plays off the concept of ‘if I could go back in time and tell myself what I know now, then.”
The video starts off with a snow globe entrance – and that kind of symbolizes how during this time, it felt like Ryan was in a very cold place, feeling trapped, like she couldn’t get out of the constant raging storm of her life for years. The flying feathers and letters to symbolize the snow falling in the snow globe, carrying on the concept throughout the video.
Dance Mom’s Lilly Ketchman (Lilly K) portrays young Bianca/ her inner voice in the music video. Fighting so hard to break through the wall of insecurity to tell the older Bianca to believe in herself.

Ryan first met Ketchman when she performed on Broadway for her Home for the Holidays show run. “I saw her, and my eyes light up. Lilly is so professional, and she truly just reminded me of myself. Poise, confident, vulnerable, driven, inspirational, professional, kind, and mature all at the same time while being so young. She’s literally the younger me wrapped up in a box with a big ol’ bow,” Ryan said.
There is a part in the video where Ryan sings “And I… will swallow my pride.” At that part, Lilly touches her neck to symbolize the vocal issues she went through. There was a lot of pain through that part of her life and Lilly portrayed the part perfectly- strong and vulnerable, which is how Ryan felt in the music industry.
Ryan had the idea of Lilly writing inspirational messages to her older self as a way of communicating with her older self, for her inner voice to break through and know that everything is going to be okay.
“She stuffs the messages away in a chest, symbolizing how I pushed away my confident inner voice for so long. I told myself I was giving up. I was almost certain I wouldn’t sing again and stepped away from it, until one day I finally opened it and the messages explode out of the chest and fly all over the place in the video. I find them all and realize that the answers were there the whole time, I just needed to find them. And that’s kind of how life works. You think you know it all and sometimes, you stress yourself out about things that you realize throughout the years that you didn’t need to stress out about. And you realize there are things you wish you could change, but you can’t change time. And that’s life. That’s the beauty of life in the end- is that you can’t know everything, and you can’t always know everything at the right time and it’s all meant to be. Every person learns lessons and their strength at different times through different experiences and they mold us into what we are today,” Ryan said.
There are a few more elements in the video that Ryan encourages fans to keep watching and figure out for themselves.
